Governing Body

The governing body of Jardin de la Paix is a democracy. In this democracy everyone has an equal share of property and a right to vote. Everyone has equal rights to a job, to food, to housing, to freedom of speech, and to a place in the civilization. In our civilization, all adults are employed and have a decent pay depending on how much they work. Food in our community is served to all. The people can eat any time and anything they want. All of our people are sheltered because we find them apartments to live in. They can state their opinions publicly and freely to the community having freedom of speech. Our community is opened for all in which everyone has a place in it.This is a government in which judging others and their opinions is banned. Voting for our presidents does not take months, but rather it is a regular voting taking a time of between two to three hours. The people of our community gathers in the Town Hall for a brief meeting. Candidates present their speeches and their views toward how they will change the community. We pass papers for everyone in the room for them to write down who they would like to be their president. They place the papers in glass box and the senate takes it into his room and sees who the people voted for. The candidate with the most votes will be our president. We have a democracy because of the freedom that is allowed and because of the equal rights it promotes.

Journal Entries

Journal Entry #1: October 15, 2012

Today is my first day at Jardin de la Paix. I came from Massachusetts,  in the United States of America. I took a 24 hour flight to Alexandria, Egypt. Now I'm in an isolated civilization near the coast of the Mediterranean and the Nile River. The city that I'm in is severly busy. People were walking everywhere, nobody sleeps, even at the middle of the night people would still be enjoying walks, going to stores and shopping. I saw all of this as I was being lead by my friend who was already living in this civilization for days, and came to the airport to pick me up. We got in a car and started driving, it took hours and it was already sunrise by the time we got there. The place was eerily quiet and peaceful. There were apartment buildings right on the Nile, the view was very beautiful.
My friend showed me where my apartment is and told me to get some sleep before I start working. I woke up at noon and got dressed quickly.

In this civilization, jobs are based on a person's talent and skills, my skill and talent is art. I will be working at an art institute as an artist. I went to the manager at the art institute and told him that I was new and my talent is art. He interviewed me to know where I came from and how did I know this place and all that good stuff. After an hour, he gave me the job. I worked from 1 to 4 for the manager to see how I am. I skipped lunch since I already ate as I was coming to the art institute. From 4 to 6, I enjoyed my free time, took a walk along the river, and explored the area a little more. It was a pretty mountainous area and if you climbed on top of a mountain, you could see a glamorous sight down to the apartments and river. From 6 to 10, I hung out with my friend and we partied, listened to music, and played a lot of games like we were still children. At 10 pm, I had dinner and I couldn't wait to finish it so I would get some sleep before I started a new day the next morning. It's 10:15 p.m. now, and I will wake up tomorrow at 5 AM. Goodnight.

Journal Entry #2: October 16, 2012

Today is my second day at the Jardin de la Paix. So far my first day has been great. Jardin de la Paix is the best place I've ever been to, everyone is so great here. When i went to work today everyone was so nice to me i really enjoy working with art, it's so beautiful. After work at 4 p.m. I had my free time which i met up with a friend that I met at work and went to dinner with her. At dinner the restaurant was so beautiful. The food was so good there I was amazed at how delicious it was. We talked for a long time and we got to know each other better. She told me about life here in the community and how it was so much better than my old country. At 6 p.m. my friend and I were done eating, and we went our seperate ways from there. When I got back to my apartment at 6:30 p.m. I went upstairs to get ready to relax and watch some T.V. I lied down and flipped through the channels. There were many modern movies and they had Pay Per View too. This place is going to be awesome! Well, it's 10:30 now and I'm thinking of going to bed. Can't wait for tomorrow! Goodnight!

Journal Entry #3: October 17, 2012

Well, today is my third day at Jardin de la Paix. After much exploring I think I have finally figured out how to find my way around the community. Thank goodness for that too, because I had to get up mighty early for work today. I woke up at 5 in the morning and drowsily got read for my day. The food is great here and I scarfed it down before going to my job- A teacher and artist at the art institute. Having eating and getting changed I went over to the institute and signed it at the front desk before going to my room. I'm having a blast working- we do everything from teaching art to people of all ages, making toys, making pottery and usable art, and just doing our own thing. It's great. Today I did a lot of pottery- to make plates, cups, and other tableware for people to use. Its fun and helpful at the same time!

After hours of working I finally got to grab some lunch- A delicious bowl of potato soup, and it was so good! Later, when I had finished my lunch I got to work teaching an art class for young kids. They came from the school on a field trip and I got to teach them! They were so cute! A couple of the kids had some great talent. Once we finished doing some paintings and drawings they left- satisfied and covered in paint! I packed up and went home to my apartment. Its beginning to feel like home now that I have put some of my art on the walls and tables. I spent some of my time drawing but I didn't really feel much inspiration... Probably because I was so tired. I settled for watching some T.V. with a dinner of mac and cheese and hot dogs. After I ate I did a bit of paperwork for the institute and played Twister with some friends. After all, you are never too old for a bit of fun! When they finally left I sacked out on the couch. It was a bit uncomfortable so I got ready for bed. Now I'm here writing, haha, so yeah, that was my whole day. I'm super tired right now so I'm going to hit the hay. Night!

Letter of Invitation

Dear Nardine,
Guess what? I bet you can't guess... Haha, its so cool but you will never guess. Ok, I suppose I can tell you :) I, your ever dedicated friend, have founded a new... Civilization! I know, I know, it's so unlike me to do something so radical. However, I have felt for a long time that our current world is not a good one. It is full of corruption and problems. The new civilization is called Jardin de la Paix, or "Garden of Peace". Like the name, we hope to turn our civilization into a literal haven of peace and harmony. We want to be self sufficient and successful. With more recruits we should easily be able to attain this. Now, here is the big question... I know it is a lot to ask so soon, but will you please come join us? I know that you have voiced similar opinions for a while now and I think it would be great if you could join me. If you don't like it then you can still leave later on, but, just to try it can you come? If you go to our blog you can learn all about us. The url is pretty easy to remember, it is http://jardindelapaix.blogspot.com.  Just considor it at the least! I would be so happy if you joined us.

Well, I hope to see you soon! Reply ASAP :) I really want to know what you think!

Au revoir!

Declaration of Independence

Declaration of Independence

We the people of Jardin de la Paix declare ourselves an independent civilization, separate from the power hungry communities of today. Our new community is built upon ethics, rights, uniqueness, and diversity. We will accept others differences and celebrate what makes us individuals. By this Declaration of Independence we confirm that we are separate from the world and from other civilizations. We will still be in contact with the rest of the world and live similar to how they do, however we will govern ourselves with morals, acceptance, and humility, for we are our own people.

We separate ourselves because other civilizations and countries have become corrupted. People do not respect each other and accept each other. Everyone has become power hungry, cruel, and prejudiced. Though the people were born free they are now held in the chains of segregation, poverty, separation, war, and dissatisfaction. In our civilization, freedom is not with held. If you are in our community you are free to be yourself, without having to worry about what others think. Our old country was in trouble , waging wars, falling into debt, corrupting justice and freedom, and taking away people's natural rights. They were in an economic crisis and falling quickly into despair. It's prices were soaring and people could not afford to live anymore. Its people were tied up in chains. Our civilization will not be held in the chains that others created for us. We will stand with independency as a free place of peace. We the people of Jardin de la Paix declare ourselves an independent civilization
